Basic landscape Painting Workshop
The 14th through the 16th will be all about simplifying working with fast drying water base paint and tricks for painting great looking effects faster and how I use those tricks in all of my paintings. More We’ll practice blending and gradients and talk about strategy to getting the right colors in the right places in a short time. That is really the biggest battle in learning to paint with acrylics. You always have to deal with the dry time. But the advantage is that there are really good looking effects that can be added in layers since it dries so quickly and I’ll show you my favorites that I’ve developed over the years. We’ll work on perspective. Perspective does not have to be done by feel. You don’t have to guess. I’ll show you how to get it right and keep it right and have a lot more natural looking painting in the end. Canvas and paint will be provided. I will ask that you bring a couple sizes of flat synthetic bristle brushes.
Schedule: The exact schedule is still in the making but you can plan on 8 hour days, Thursday-Saturday, starting around 9:00 AM with a couple good breaks and lunch. There will be snacks provided at the workshop.
Location/Hotels: There are a lot of hotels in the area. Hotels on Lucky Lane are a short drive away and popular among travelers being close to supermarkets and convenience stores. The workshop is close to East Rt. 66 at 1919 N. Fourth St. to be exact. There are many locally owned hotels along Rt. 66 that are cheaper and probably not as nice but still safe. The train that travels through town can be a bit noisy if your closer to Rt. 66.
